Opening of St. Mary's Church-yard.
A Committee, of which Mr. Greatorex is Chairman, was
appointed in April, reported that they consider a Public Mortuary
a necessary acquisition to this Parish, and that the most appropriate
site exists at the North End of the Burial Ground,
proposed to be opened to the Public.
That the keys of the Public Mortuary, or of the present
dead house, and of the Burial Ground, should be kept
exclusively by a man in charge of the Burial Ground, whose
duties would require him to be always on the spot, and he
should be required to live contiguous thereto. The Committee
are of opinion that in order to render this improvement
readily accessible to all parts of the Parish, a thoroughfare
should be made into Cuthbert Street, Hall Park, from Manor
Place, by taking down two houses at the end of Manor Place.
