Deaths in St. Mary's Hospital are 55, 7 of which from
Pyaemia were a sufficiently large proportion to attract the notice
of the Hospital authorities. 26 deaths occurred in the Workhouse,
amongst which were 3 of Typhus Fever, 36 Inquests were held
during this quarter in the Parish; of these 11 were deaths from
natural causes, 20 were deaths from accidental causes, viz., 2
accidental suffocation of infants in bed with mother; 4 burns
from clothes taking fire; 14 from accidental violence by falls, and
street accidents with vehicles: the latter cases were taken to
St. Mary's Hospital; 3 cases of suicide and 2 of infanticide.
The deaths in young children this quarter are 148, or 37 less
than last quarter. The Deaths from Measles and Whooping
Cough have been fatal to a less number of children, owing to the
very mild spring weather.
Nuisances and Complaints.
The register book of complaints and nuisances contains 300 cases, which admit of the following classification:—
