typhoid fever is far from being so frequent or fatal
as might be expected. Deaths from diseases of the
respiratory organs, not including consumption,
croup, whooping cough, are 289. forming 10.6 per
cent of total deaths. Consumption and the tubercular
diseases, see Table V., form a heavy item
in the returns. Paddington however contrasts
favorably with all London. Deaths from violent
causes amount to 84; suicides, 13; infanticides, 10;
accidental, 61. Numerous deaths are recorded
from bronchitis, old age, natural decay, at ages
beyond 80, evidently indicative of a large proportion
of persons living to very advanced ages in this
Parish.
