SURPLUS LANDS, WAPPING.
Application having been made to the Board to purchase part
of the surplus lands at Wapping, the question of the disposal of the
same was referred to the Wapping Committee who recommended that
advertisements should be issued inviting Tenders for the purchase

The matter is still under the consideration of the Committee.
ARTISANS' AND LABORERS' DWELLINGS-BROOK
STREET SCHEME.
The Medical Officer of Health having made an Official Representation
of the unhealthy area comprising Harris' Court, Blue
Anchor Alley and other Courts adjoining, a Committee of the
Metropolitan Board of Works made an inspection of the area, and
that Board determined to include the same in a Scheme under
the Artisans' and Laborers' Dwellings' Act. A copy of the Scheme,
with a plan of the area, was deposited at the Offices of this Board,
and on the 8th March, 1883, Mr. D. Cubitt Nichols, having been
duly appointed in that behalf, held an enquiry at the District Board
Offices in White Horse Street, as to the Official Representation made
by the Medical Officer of Health, as to the area to which the enquiry
related being unhealthy, and as to the sufficiency of the Scheme
provided for its improvement by the Metropolitan Board of Works,
and any local objections which might be made thereto.
