LIGHTING.
The number of public lamps in the district is 746, being an increase of one
on the number reported at Ludy-day, 1869.
The attention of the Hoard having been called to the neglected and dirty
state of the public lamps, and also to the fact that in some parts of the district
the lamps were not lighted until after dark, and that the light given by the
burners was insufficient, the attention of the Gas Companies have been called
to the matter, and instructions have been given to the inspectors to make
inspections from time to time of the lamps throughout the district during the
evening and night, and to report thereon to the Board.
