Coroner's inquests were held in 81 cases of death.

Meteorology.
During the year 1899 the mean temperature of the air
at Greenwich was 50.6.
The lowest temperature, 19.3, occurred in December, and
the highest, 90.0, in August.
Rain fell on 141 days The rainfall was 22 34 inches,
which is much below the average for the last 83 years, which
is 24.92 inches, but higher than the previous year, when
it was only 1885 inches.
