The automatic, system of Flushing Sewers has been extended
again this year by the construction of 15 tanks with self-acting
flushing syphons, the tanks varying in capacity from 520 to 1000
gallons, and the syphons being 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch in
diameter, according to the requirements of the case.
Twenty-six additional manholes (acting as ventilators) were
constructed in the existing Sewers, as well as 10 small manholes
also acting as ventilators, which were built adjoining the flushing
tanks.
