The Board, in conjunction with the Beckenham Local Board
of Health, determined to oppose the Corporation of Croydon in
obtaining powers to purchase additional land to extend the South
Norwood Sewage Farm. I was engaged in making plans and
obtaining information regarding the matter. I also gave evidence
before the Local Government Board's Inspector at the inquiries
held at Croydon. Unfortunately the Boards were not successful
in their opposition to the scheme.
The wooden staircases of the footbridge at Park End, Sydenham,
having become decayed from age, and unsafe, they were
replaced by iron staircases, with wooden treads and parapets.

PARLIAMENTARY SCHEMES.
The only Bills affecting the District deposited dniring the

which included, amongst other matters not connected with
the District, power to purchase the proposed Recreation
Ground lor Penge, which is pretty certain to be obtained.
2. The South Eastern Metropolitan (Lewisham, Greenwich,

reason to believe, will come to nothing.
