There were about 6,295 superficial yards of old pathway
relaid and 17,256 superficial yards of tar pavement painted in
the Parish of Lewisham, and 3,212 superficial yards of old pathway
relaid and 7,738 superficial yards of tar pavement painted in
the Hamlet of Penge.
ROAD IMPROVEMENTS.
There were not many improvements carried out or discussed
during the year. The most important was the extension of
Thurston Road to Mill Lane, Deptford. The widening of the
Road near " Rosenthal," Rushey Green, was completed. I made
a plan for widening the footpath of Jews' Walk, Sydenham, at
the junction with Wells Road, which would have been of great
public advantage, but it was given up on account of the compensation
asked. An improvement was carried out in Dermody
Road, Lewisham, by cutting off an elbow of the Road.
NEW STREETS.
The undermentioned New Streets were paved and formed
(or are in hand) under the 105th Section of the Metropolis
Local Management Act:—
