There were 25 lamps removed to more suitable positions in
the Parish of Lewisham, and 11 lamps in the Hamlet of Penge.
Three of the old burners to the obelisk lamp were done away with
in High Street, Lewisham (at the turning to Lee Road), and three
of Bray's flat flame burners substituted.
Upon the 21st of February the South Metropolitan Gas
Company wrote to the Board, saying that in all cases where lamps
were more than the statutory distance apart (75 yards) an additional
sum would be charged in respect of such lamps. I am
preparing a Register of the distance apart of the lamps in the
South Metropolitan Gas Company's District, and also a special
