The Board extended the 18-inch pipe from Kingswood Road, Penge, to the foot of Anerley Park Road, in order to have a surface water outlet

for that road.

The corrected 25-inch Ordnance Map of the Lewisham
District was lithographed, and a bound copy sent to each member
of the Board.
Referring to my Report of last year, page 17, the outfall
sewer in Ivy Lane has been completed, and most of the pipe
sewers in the roads on Webb's Estate laid. The houses on
this estate have therefore the means of drainag' . The outfall
sewer upon Major Foster's Estate, West Hill, is in hand, and
when completed the houses on the top of Sydenham Hill will
also have an outfall for sewerage. With regard to the valley
line sewer of the Quaggy, which will drain the houses in
Nightingale Grove, Maythorne and Maybank Cottages, Ennersdale
Road, &c., I am sorry to say things appear to be at a
dead lock. Plans and sections, together with estimates and
apportionments, have been prepared for sewers in all the streets
of this neighbourhood; but the Metropolitan Board of Works
have sanctioned the sewers for house drainage only, which not
being satisfactory to the Board, the matter stands adjourned.
There are about 100 houses now completed in this valley with
no other means of drainage except cesspools. I am very anxious
to see the difficulties overcome and the work of constructing
