In two instances the owners have had their licenses
opposed because they were not kept in a sufficiently clean
state.
The requirements arc very simple, and are as follow:—
There must be proper light and ventilation; proper
paving and drainage of the cowhouse, and the adjoining
yard ; good water supply ; properly constructed dung-pit;
clean and properly covered cisterns for grains. The cowhouse
must be cleared and manure swept up twice daily, and
removed from the premises at least three times a week, before
seven a.m. The premises to be lime-washed twice a year,
and the yard to be washed down once every day.
It is very important that Bye-laws should be framed for
Cowhouses, based upon these requirements, similar to those
in existence for Slaughter-houses.
I have the honour to be, Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
F. E. WILKINSON.
To the Board of Works
for the Lewisham District.
