The average rate of mortality for the whole of London
during the decenniad from 1851 to 1861 amounted to 236
per 1000
The average annual rate of mortality for this district
between 1851 and 1861 was 168 per 1000
During the year 1865 the deaths registered bore the following
proportionto the estimated population:—

The mortality tables appended give a detailed account of
the causes of death, and the different ages at which death took
place, arranged in accordance with the plan of the registrargeneral,
and the following information may be obtained from
them, viz:—
