one or two instances cesspools in the houses are only covered by the kitchen boards, and
the drain from these houses is open for some distance, although near the sewer.
Some new houses built and building in Perry Vale are turning their overflow drainage
into the ditch opposite Emerson Terrace, where it must ere long be a great nuisance,
and whence it will eventually get into the Ravensbourne. It should be taken in the
other direction into the sewer.
A gully opposite Round Hill corner is at times a most offensive nuisance.
Meteorological tables and tables of mortality are appended as usual.

Gentlemen,
The mortality in the district during the month ending upon the 19th June is considerably
above the average of the last three years, the deaths of 40 individuals (20
males and 20 females) having been registered. Seven deaths have taken place from
consumption in Blackheath and Lewisham.
