purifying the Ravensbourne, and thereby incidentally of purifying the
Thames; and they are of opinion, that it is equitable that the entire cost
should not fall upon the Parishes; and they therefore suggest, that £10,000
of the cost of such Sewer should be viewed as a part of the expenses of the
Main Intercepting Drainage. They do not, however, propose that this
amount should be raised by Precept from the Metropolis, but recommend
that the principal and interest of so much of the debt should be paid out of
the moneys raised by the Board under the Metropolis Management Act
Amendment, as a part of the £3,000,000 which the Board are empowered
to raise under that Act.
"The works, the expense of which has been redistributed according to
rental, are the following:— * * * (2). The Deptford, Lewisham, and Bell
Green Sewer, the cost of which was £26,545 16s. 5d., has been apportioned
according to the rental, in consequence of which the charge on St. Paul,
Deptford, is increased from £6,338 2s. 8d., the amount first recommended,
to £7,772 18s. 7d. The third work which has been dealt with in the
same manner is the North Kent Valley and Lee Road Sewer, &c., cost
£2,680 4s. 1d., which will make some variation in the amounts proposed
to be charged on the Parishes concerned, which are also shewn in the
tabular statement."
