THE BIRTH RATE.
The number of births registered in Lambeth during the year
1889, having reached a total of 8906 cases, arc 111 less than ihc
number registered in the previous year.
The registered number of male children exceeds by 178 that of
the female. During the same period in the entire Metropolitan
area 131,487 births are recorded.
