LIGHTING.
During the year ending 25th March, 1887, there have been
erected 40 new ordinary Column Lamps and 3 new Bracket
Lamps, 1 Column Lamp has been discontinued and 37
Column Lamps shifted to positions of greater utility, whilst
in two coses brackets have been replaced by columns. In
the Brixton Road 3 ordinary lamps have been replaced
by lamps of greater power, viz., at the corner of Atlantic
Road, Effra Road, and Trent Road.

The total cost of lighting, cleaning and maintaining, including
new columns and lanterns, removals and sundry expenses,
amounted to /13911 6s. 4d. The Crystal Palace District
Gas Company from Lady-day, 1886, reduced the annual
charge lor public lamps from £3 17s. 8d. to £1 15s. 10d.,
subject to the usual discount of 5 per cent.; this reduction
effects a small annual saving to the Parish of £17 8s. 4d.
