The third Table gives the death rates of London, of the
South Districts of London, of the Parish of Lambeth, and of each
of its eight sub-divisions ; whence it appears that the death-rate
of Lambeth was less than that of the entire Metropolis, and
considerably less than that of the South Districts of the Metropolis,
among which it is situated. Had the mortality of Lambeth
been proportionate to the mortality of the Metropolis, there would
have been 3,839 deaths registered, instead of 3,499.

The high death-rate of the Lambeth Church second subdistrict
depends upon its containing the Workhouse, which contributed
more than one-fourth of its entire mortality. The comparatively
high death-rate of the Norwood sub-district, though
