[Report of the Medical Officer of Health for Hamlet of Mile End Old Town]

Resolved—That the Report be adopted.
V. The Report of Committee No. 2 was brought up and
read by the Clerk as follows:
To the Vestry of the Hamlet of Mile End Old Town.
Report of Committee No. 2.
For Highways, Paving, Lighting and Watering.
Wednesday, 17th April, 1889.
Your Committee beg to report that they met on Thursday,
the nth day of April inst., there being present Messrs.
Loftus, Hirst, Collier, Calton, Druitt, Mardorf, W. A. Kemp,
and Calnan.
That your Surveyor brought up and read a Report for
which your Committee beg to refer your Board to his Report
Book.
(1) That your Surveyor reported that Messrs. Woodham & Fry
were not progressing with the paving of Globe Road, with the
dispatch he considered they ought, and your Committee
directed your Surveyor to write Messrs. Woodham & Fry
informing them that the Vestry would be recommended to
take such proceedings under the contract, as they might be
advised, unless they (Messrs. Woodham & Fry) immediately
proceed with the works with the necessary dispatch.
That your Committee therefore beg to recommend your
Board accordingly.
(2) That your Surveyor submitted a communication from the
North Metropolitan Tramways Company, with reference to
the repairing of their lines in the Commercial Road, and inquiring
when it was likely that the reconstruction of the
Commercial Road Sewer would be proceeded with.
That your Committee resolved to recommend—That the
North Metropolitan Tramways Company be referred to the
Vestry of St. George's-in-the-East, who are ordered to carry
out the work of reconstructing the Sewer.

VI. The Clerk submitted a Memorial of the 9th inst. of inhabitants
of Globe Road and neighbourhood complaining of the
delay of Messrs. Woodham & Fry in the execution of the
paving of the carriageway of Globe Road.
