[Report of the Medical Officer of Health for Hamlet of Mile End Old Town]

76 20 NOVEMBER, 1889.
(4) That your Committee resolved to recommend—That the
attention of the London County Council be drawn to the bad
state of repair of the Commercial Road, which is repairable
by the Council.
(5) That your Clerk read a letter from Mr. G. A. Stewart on
behalf of Mrs. M. A. Forster, claiming compensation for an
alleged accident through falling down in Bow Common Lane
on the 9th August last, and your Committee after consideration
resolved to recommend—That your Board deny liability in
the matter.
(6) That having regard to the report of your Clerk your Committee
resolved to recommend—That your Clerk be authorised
to take proceedings against the only owner of property in
Eaton Place, who has neglected to pay the estimated cost of
Paving, &c., such place.
(7) That your Committee resolved to recommend—That your
Surveyor be instructed to forthwith pave and make up Eaton
Place.
(8) That your Clerk read a letter of the 30th ultimo from
Messrs. Young & Sons, on behalf of Mrs. Staley the owner of
Nos. 30 to 44, and 105 to 109 Moody Street, of whom the
sum of £83 4s. has been demanded for the estimated cost of
Paving, &c., that part of Moody Street, offering to pay such
amount by five quarterly instalments, and your Committee
resolved to recommend—That such offer be accepted, and
further that your Surveyor be instructed to at once proceed
to carry out the works thereat.
(9) That your Committee resolved to recommend—That the
necessary resolutions be passed for the Paving, &c., of Exmouth
Court, at the cost of the owners of property therein,
(10) That your Committee beg to report that a deputation of
of five members from the Limehouse District Board of Works,
with their Clerk (Mr. Ratcliff), waited upon your Committee
on the subject of the widening of Ben Jonson Road, and the
improvement of Victory Bridge. That the deputation urged
that joint action of that Board and this Vestry be taken, and
to memorialize the London County Council to execute the
work as a county improvement, and your Committee resolved
to recommend—That this Vestry join with the Limehouse
District Board of Works in presenting a memorial to the
London County Council praying that Victory Bridge and Ben
Jonson Road, may be widened and improved by the Council
as a county improvement, and that on such memorial being
presented, it be supported by a deputation consisting of the
members of this Vestry and of the Limehouse District Board
of Works.
(11) That pursuant to the resolution of your Board your Committee
accompanied by Mr. Cade and Mr. Richardson,
inspected the Tramways in this Hamlet, and resolved to
recommend—That with regard to the Mile End Road, formal
