That your Committee resolved to recommend—That a
cheque for £350 be drawn in favor of your Surveyor, on
account of labour.
(2) That your Committee considered the reference of your
Board, as to the amount of deposits to be paid by persons
tendering.
That your Committee find that during the last ten years,
there have been but few cases in which persons have withdrawn,
after their tenders have been accepted by the Vestry,
and that no doubt having to deposit a sum of money, has an
adverse bearing on persons of small capital, desiring to tender.
Your Committee therefore resolved to recommend—That
deposits be not required from persons tendering, except in
cases specially ordered by the Vestry.
(3) That your Clerk submitted and your Committee considered
an estimate of the amounts required by the Vestry, for the
half-year ending Lady-day next, which was as follows:—
For General Purposes £19,468 5 5
„ Lighting the Hamlet 1,754 10 9
„ the purposes of Sewers 1,940 10 1
£23,163 6 3
Whereupon your Committee resolved to recommend—That
the Vestry approve the estimate of the amounts required.
(4) That a precept be issued to the Overseers, requiring them
to raise and pay over to the Treasurer of the Vestry, the
several sums following, at the times and for the purposes
following: that is to say, the sum of £19,400 for the General
Purposes of the Vestry by two instalments; the first of £8,850
to be paid on or before the 2nd day of December next, and
the second or balance of £10,550 to be paid on or before the
1st day of February next: the sum of £1,700 for Lighting the
Hamlet, to be paid on or before the 2nd day of December
next: and the sum of £1,400 for the purposes of Sewers, to
be paid on or before the 1st day of February next.
(5) That your Surveyor having reported that the contract for
Cleaning, &c., the Vestry Hall and Offices, had not been
carried out to his satisfaction, your Committee resolved to
recommend—That unless the contractors for the repairs at the
Vestry Hall, at once carry out their contract to the satisfaction
of the Surveyor, the Surveyor be instructed to have
the work completed and that the cost of so doing be charged
against the contractors.
