weight in inducing the Government to institute enquiries
on the subject, and the East London Waterworks
Company to seek from Parliament for enlarged
and beneficial powers.
The duties of the Vestry, which recur from year to
year, have not been neglected.
The condition of cow-houses, slaughter-houses and
bake-houses has been duly supervised, and the necessary
steps have, from time to time, been taken, to
secure the due observance of sanitary requirements.
In October last, 32 licenses for slaughter-houses, and
27 licenses for cow-houses were granted by the Justices.
The annual contract for the removal of dust from
houses was duly entered into.
The accounts for the year ending 25th March, 1866,
were in due course submitted to the auditors, vouched
and allowed. The abstract of the accounts, showing
the receipts and expenditure of the Vestry, with their
assets and liabilities, is appended to this Report.
