Enteric Fever.
39 cases of Enteric Fever were notified, or 2.6 per 10,000
inhabitants, the average for the preceding 10 years being 5.8 per
10,000.
Of those certified to be suffering from the disease, 29, or 77
per cent., were removed to hospital for treatment. In six instances
the disease was contracted outside the district, and in two cases
there were strong grounds for suspecting shell-fish as the origin of
the infection.
Fatality.—Six cases proved fatal, giving a case mortality of
15.4 per cent.
