On the 3rd August, 1892, the Lammas Rights and Open Spaces
Committee reported that they had viewed the Recreation Ground
and had given the Surveyor instructions as to the position and levels
of the footpaths, and on the 21st September, 1892, they further reported
that they had instructed the Surveyor to have such sand as he
could carted from the Recreation Ground to the Vestry's Depot in
Munster Road, and to report the quantity at the next meeting of the
Committee, no special labour to be employed in carrying out the
work. Both these recommendations were adopted.
On the 12 th October, 1892, it was resolved that the Carmen of
Slop Carts be paid 4d. per load for each load of sand carted from the
Recreation Ground to the yard at Munster Road, the sand to be
loaded after the last load of slop has been shot, and that the matter
be reconsidered at the next meeting of the Cartage Committee.
At the next meeting the Cartage Committee ordered the carting
of the sand to the Vestry's yard by the slop carts to be discontinued,
and instructed the Surveyor to employ all the spare horses in carting
away the sand.
At the Vestry Meeting on the 23rd November, 1892, a letter was
read from the London County Council informing the Vestry that
provided they adhered strictly to the undertaking that no gravel
should be dug up and removed from the Recreation Ground, and no
offensive materials deposited there, and also that the laying out and
planting should be completed by the 30th December, 1892, they
would pay their promised contribution towards the purchase and
laying out of the ground.
On the 1st March, 1893, the Lammas Rights and Open Spaces
Committee reported to the Vestry that they had viewed the trees
supplied by Messrs. Fromow at the Recreation Ground and found
same satisfactory.
