Fulham Union Board Room and Offices
Hammersmith, W.
Dear Sir, 25th July 1889.
Provisional Lists.
Your letter of the 22nd instant was brought under the notice of the
Union Assessment Committee at their meeting this morning, when I was
directed to inform the Churchwardens and Overseers that, in view of the
injustice to many ratepayers, and the loss in rates on new properties which
must be daily arising through neglect in the preparation of a Provisional
List, the Committee are not prepared to allow any further
delay to take place in the matter. They have, therefore, appointed
Mr. J. G. Hall Assessing Surveyor, to make, sign, and send a list to them
with the least possible delay. On the annexed sheet I send you a copy of
the Committee's resolution.
Yours faithfully,
(Signed) T. A. MARSH,
C. J. Foakes, Esq., Vestry Clerk, Clerk to the Assessment Committee.
Vestry Offices, Walham Green.
Provisional Lists.—Parish of Fulham.
Resolved unanimously—"That, having regard to the fact that it is
nearly three months since a Provisional List was received from the parish
officers of Fulham, and that during that period nearly 100 requisitions for
re-valuation have been received from ratepayers of that parish, this
Committee, in pursuance of the authority given by Sees. 13 and 47 (2) of
the "Val. (Met.) Act, 1869," do hereby appoint Mr. J. G. Hall, Assessing
Surveyor, to make and deliver to the Committee a Provisional List for the
said parish, for which they agree to pay him remuneration at the same rate
as he has hitherto been paid by the Overseers of the Parish of Fulham for
similar work."
Fulham Union ; Board Room and Offices,
Fulham Palace Road.
Dear Sir, 25th July, 1889.
Re Supplemental List, 1889.
I am directed by the Assessment Committee of this Union to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter of the 16th instant, on the subject of the
delay which has arisen in making and depositing the Supplemental list for
Fulham Parish.
The Committee direct me to forward, for the information of the Parish
Officers of Fulham, the annexed copy of a resolution which, at their
meeting this morning, was passed on the subject.
C. J. Foakes, Esq., Yours faithfully,
Vestry Clerk, &c., (Signed) T. A. MARSH,
Vestry Offices, Walham Green. Clerk to the Assessment Committee.
