WHARF.—TOLL HOUSE SITE.
Plans have been prepared for the construction of river wall, projecting
about 40 feet into the river, enclosing an area of nearly 600 square yards.
The Conservators also require that a causeway and steps down to the
river bed should be constructed for the use of the public in lieu of the steps
removed. .
Tenders were received for the work on the 24th July, 1889; and that of
Messrs. Mayo, amounting to £2200, was accepted.
BISHOP'S MEADOW.
By the additional grant made in March, 1889, by the Ecclesiastical
Commissioners, of 5½ acres of land known as the West Meadow, the total
area of this proposed park is raised to about 12 acres.
