The mean mortality rate in this District during the last ten
years was 20.5 per 1000 persons living, being one death to each
48.7persons, as compared with a death rate of 19.4 and one death
to each 51.3 persons living last year. If we consider the fact that
the mortality rate in this District last year was 1.1below the
last decennial average, and 2.3 less than the decennial average
