Cautions were administered to 2 roundsmen who were
observed filling bottles with milk in public thoroughfares.
Food amd Drugs (Adulteration) Act, 1928, Sections 21 and 29,
and the Second Schedule thereto.
Under the above Act and Schedule a purveyor of milk from
whom a retail sample of milk has been taken for analysis may,
within sixty hours of obtaining such sample, request the Local
Authority to take immediate steps to procure as soon as practicable
a sample of milk in the course of transit or delivery from the
wholesale firm from whom he receives the milk.
During the year 5 purveyors requested that such samples
be taken from the wholesale firms supplying them with milk.
In the meanwhile, however, it had been ascertained in all
these instances that the retail samples were genuine. In these
circumstances no good purpose would have been served by taking
further samples, and the dairymen were informed accordingly.
