consideration accepted that of Mr. Richardson, of Langton
Works, Brixton, at a sum of £1,107, it being the lowest.
The Board have also to report that the general staff of
gravediggers, and gardeners has been augmented and their
wages increased.
The late Mr. Cyrus Legg, who had been an old
inhabitant of the Parish, and who had put in a stained
glass window to the memory of his wife, had by his Will
directed that a similar memorial window should be placed
in the church to his memory. His widow submitted the
design to the Board, which they approved, and the window
has now been put in to the embellishment of the church.
The Board have expended much money during the
year in the drainage of the Cemetery, putting additional
seats for the accommodation of the visitors, and have made
many alterations and ornamentation to the Buildings and
Superintendent's Lodge.
There have been during the year 3,891 interments. The
number of private graves and vaults which have been
sold is 236.
An Abstract of the Interments is appended hereto.
On account of the large increase of the population of the
Parish, and the limited area of the Cemetery, the Board
deemed it expedient not to allow the interment of Non-
arishioners, or the purchase of private graves by them.
