CAMBERWELL.
THE REPORT
of the
Commissioners of Public Libraries and
Museums.
Dulwich
Library.
In the last Report it was stated that the Estate
Governors of Dulwich College had been pleased
to grant the Commissioners a site for the erection of the
Dulwich Public Library in Lordship Lane, at the junction
with Woodwarde Road.
Certain legal difficulties prevented the gift of land
for the erection of Public Libraries bequeathed for charitable
purposes, but by the insertion of a Clause in the Public
Libraries and Museums Act, 1890, these were removed, and
in the last Report it was stated that this gift was now only
awaiting the consent of the Charity Commissioners for the
land to be conveyed. This consent has now been given,
and the Governors have executed the necessary conveyance
of the site. It is hoped that some generous resident
may be disposed now to present a building suitable to the
requirements of this growing District.
