REPORT
of the
COMMISSIONERS OF PUBLIC BATHS
AND WASH-HOUSES.
Dulwich Baths
& Wash-houses.
The Commissioners in their last Report to
the Vestry stated that the tender of Mr. H. L.
Holloway had been accepted for the erection of the Dulwich
Public Baths. Some difficulties were experienced which
caused delay in the completion of the buildings, the chief
of which arose from the requirements of the London
County Council as to building over the Effra main sewer,
which runs under a portion of the site. A complaint was
also received from a trades' union that the concrete used in
a portion of the foundation was not in accordance with the
specifications, and the Commissioners; after requiring such
union to deposit the sum of £5, as an evidence of good
faith, caused the builder to open up the foundations in
three places selected by the complainants, when samples of
the concrete were obtained and submitted to the Public
Analyst who reported that the component parts of such
concrete were such as were required by the Architects.
