REPORT of the ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE.
APRIL, 1891.
The Committee have the pleasure of reporting their
proceedings during the past Quinquennial Year, 1890.
The Overseers of the Poor, in accordance with the
provisions of the Valuation (Metropolis) Act, 1869, deposited
with your Committee during the year, four Provisional
Lists, containing the following number of Assessments:—
March 520
June 505
September 380
December 405
Total number of separate Assessments 1,810
As against 2,009 in the Quinquennial Year, 1885 ; 2,098 in
1880; and 912 in 1875.
Two Copies of these Provisional Lists were prepared
by the Clerk—one for the Committee, and one for the
Surveyor of Taxes.
1,810 Notices were also prepared and sent by him
to the Occupiers of houses in the above Lists.
