ANALYSTS' REPORTS.
Chemical Laboratory,

June 29th, 1889.
To the Vestry of St. Giles, Camberwell.
Gentlmen,
In presenting my Report for the Quarter, I begin,
as usual, with the most important, milk. Of the 25
analysed, four were adulterated with, respectively, 9, 10, 34,
and 70 per cent. of added water. Several have only just
escaped. In this Summer-weather, when the samples are
*
kept over the day, they are apt to become sour, or nearly so,
and the more if they have been watered. In one case, salt
had been added, probably for the purpose of covering the
adulteration.
