pointed under the Order, but in such a case the
Board do not consider it needful that an advertisement
should be published in a newspaper of the
proposal to appoint the officer. They have therefore
provided by Article 6 that it shall not be requisite in
any case of this kind to give notice by advertisement,
if notice be given at one of the two ordinary meetings
of the local authority next preceding the meeting at
which the appointment is to be made. The Article
will also apply in cases in which it is hereafter desired
to renew appointments made under the Order for a
specified term.
Article 5 has been inserted with a view
to enable a local authority to provide in certain cases
for filling up a vacancy about to arise in the office of
medical officer of health, before the vacancy has
actually arisen, and Article 7 provides for the remuneration
of a person employed to act as a substitute
for a medical officer who may be temporarily prevented
by sickness or accident, or other sufficient
reason, from performing his duties.
Articles 8 to 11 refer to the tenure of office
of medical officers of health appointed under the
Order. Articles 12 to 15 relate to the salaries of
officers so appointed, and Article 16 to their duties.
It will be observed that the salary payable to
any such officer must be approved by the Board.
