received communications again appealing for work for
unemployed in this Parish. The letters were promptly dealt
with. Enquiries were made into the genuineness of the
appeals; the Surveyor—in spite of the unfavourable season
of the year—kept contractors actively engaged on the work
of as many new streets as possible; and registers were opened
at the Vestrv Hall in which those who desired work could

Vestry cordially adopted the terras of the communication,
and though there were no public works of any magnitude
which could be put in hand, continued to press on the new
streets incidental works which were being carried out at an
otherwise unseasonable time.
