ANALYST'S REPORTS.
Chemical Laboratory,
St. Thomas's Hospital,
Medical and Surgical College, S.E..
June 26th, 1886.
To the Vestry of Camberwell.
Gentlemen,
I have a very simple, but very much better Report
to give of the Food-supply of Camberwell during the
Spring quarter.
Of thirty-six Milks analysed, only three were cases for
prosecution. Two Milks had respectively 8 and 16 per
cent. of added water. One sample was shamelessly
skimmed, unless it was sold as skim milk. It must not be
supposed that all the Milks were genuine, as nine more
were admixed with water up to the standard, and so much
more is desired than obtained. As long as adulteration is
held in so little disrepute, not much can be hoped.
