The above charges for water for road purposes are in
part by mileage and part by meter. Those by the Southwark
and Vauxhall and Lambeth Water Companies are by
meter, thus—
The Southwark and Vauxhall Water Co.
supply water at 8½d. per 1,000 gallons.
The Lambeth Water Co. at 8½d. per 1,000 gallons
in the low district; 1s. per 1,000 gallons in the midlevel;
and 1s. 3d. per 1,000 gallons in the high-level
district, near the Crystal Palace.
The Kent Water Co. charge as arranged, for 42/3
miles of road for the sum of £135.
SLOPPING, WATERING, &c.
This work has been satisfactorily continued by the
Vestry plant, &c., which has averaged as follows:—

Slop Carts 40

Corn Van 1
The cost of fodder, &c. for the year, for the horses in
this department has amounted to £2,974 16s. 7d., being an
average cost per week, per horse, of las. 3d.
The consumption of the fodder per week per horse has
been—
Clover, Mixture, and Hay 2.28 trusses.
Straw (including bedding) 1.63 „
Oats 2.58 bushels.
Beans 0.20 „
Bran 10.00 lbs.
