REPORT of the AUDITORS to the VESTRY.
Report of the Auditors to the Vestry, respecting the accounts
for the year, ending March 25th, 1885.
Vestry Hall, Camberwell, S.E.
July 7th, 1885.
Gentlemen,
We have to report that we have duly audited and examined
the accounts of the Parish, in accordance with the
provisions of the Metropolis Local Management Act, 1855,
from the 26th March, 1884, to the 25th March, 1885, both
dates inclusive, and we find the same to be correct.
The satisfactory manner in which the several books
and vouchers have been kept redounds to the credit of the
individual officers who have charge of the same, amongst
whom we would like to mention, Mr. Rees, Mr. Lord, and
Mr. Pitfield, and we have pleasure in testifying to the
readiness and uniform courtesy shewn us at all times.
It is with regret that we find that our previous remarks
in our reports from time to time as to the arrears of rates
have apparently been overlooked, we cannot too strongly
urge upon the Vestry this question, various suggestions
have been made, and your Auditors venture to hope that
the matter may now receive proper consideration at the
hands of the Vestry. Your Auditors are of opinion that
a. great check will be obtained, and a saving effected by
way of security, and in the stamps used, if four receipts
are issued in the future, instead of two as at present, i.e.,
poor and general receipts to be separated.
