was received by him—from Mr. Howell Thomas,
Secretary to the Boundary Commission—stating that
the Commissioners were desirous of obtaining such
information as would enable them to divide the
Borough of Camberwell in conformity with the provisions
of the Redistribution of Seats Bill; and further
asking to be furnished with a map shewing the
boundaries of the Wards and Polling Districts into
which the Parish has been divided for the election of
Vestrymen.
The Commission also asked to be furnished with
a copy, as early as practicable, of any scheme for the
division of the parish that the Vestry might prepare.
Subsequently Major General Carey, R.E., a Commissioner,
had interviews on the subject, at the Vestry
Hall, with the Vestry Clerk and Assistant Vestry
Clerk, and upon his request that all schemes to be
considered by the Commission should be sent in not
later than the 19th instant, the Vestry Clerk submitted
to the three Standing Committees the letter of
the Secretary to the Commission, together with the
particulars of the Commissioner's interviews, and
asked that a Special Committee should be formed by
election from the three Standing Committees, to
consider the details of the question, and to frame a
scheme for the proper division of the Parish, to be
submitted to a Special Meeting of the Vestry for their
consideration.
The Special Committee was accordingly formed,
and consisted of twelve members of the General
Purposes, twelve of the Sewers and Sanitary, and
twelve of the Finance Committee.
