Board of Trade,
(Railway Department,)
London, S.W.,
14th January, 1884.
Sir,
I am directed by the Board of Trade, to
state for the information of the Vestry of Camberwell
(St. Giles) that having regard to all the
circumstances of the case, and to the almost
unanimous opposition of the representatives of
the consumers, they have decided not to give
their approval to the scheme of amalgamation
of the Gas Light and Coke Company with the
South Metropolitan Gas Company.
I am, Sir,
Your obedient servant,
HENRY J. CALCRAFT.
The Vestry Clerk,
Camberwell (St. Giles).
This determination of the Board happily
settled the question without the Conference
incurring further expense, and being heard by
counsel in opposition to the scheme.
