I have appended, as usual, two tables (Tables
VI. and VII.); the first of which shews the annual
mortality of the Parish due to the zymotic diseases,
and to diarrhoea, from the year when the Vestry
commenced operations down to the present time, the
second of which shews the mortality due to these
same affections, quarter by quarter, for the last 10
years. These, together with Table I., comprise all the
more important statistical facts relating to these
diseases.
To remark upon the affections referred to in
their order:—Hooping Cough caused 206 deaths, a
number larger by 84 than that registered in 1879,
and larger than was ever before registered in the
Parish excepting in the year 1878, when 206 deaths
were also registered. The disease prevailed chiefly
in Camberwell and St. George's. Nearly three-fourths
of the total number of deaths occurred in the first
quarter, and nearly one-fourth in the second quarter.
In the third quarter only eight deaths were caused by
it, and in the fourth only five. Hooping Cough was
more fatal than usual in London in the year 1880.
Measles caused 59 deaths, against 123 in 1879.
Diphtheria caused 32 deaths against 31 in 1879.
Fever caused 36 deaths against 35 in 1879. Neither
