making all incidental allowances under £2,000, which
approximately gives a cost of 2s. 6d. per load. The
cost under the former system of collection was 5s. 6d.
per load. The actual saving therefore this year is
about £2,000, by comparison of the two systems. It
may be added that the sale of Dust during the past
year realized the sum of £856.
To enable the work to be satisfactorily carried
out, and to meet the increased work, it was found
necessary to increase the number of Horses and Carts.
The number now employed, (and which will shortly
have to be further increased,) in this work is—

It having been deemed desirable to have covered
standing for the Dust Carts, a suitable shed, similar
to that erected for and in continuation of that put up
by the General Purposes Committee, has been erected
at the Peckham Park Road Wharf for this purpose.

It is necessary to advise the Vestry that at
no distant period, additional facilities for the disposal
of the Dust will become absolutely necessary.
The subject is now receiving the earnest consideration
of your Committee, and will be reported upon in clue
course.
