expended in order to carry out the work of this
Department.
The detail account of the Cost of Horses' keep
and incidental expenditure is not here enumerated,
it being given more fully in another Report, and
with nearly the same result, there being a joint
Committee for the purchase of Fodder, etc., for the
two Departments. The result of this working of the
Dust Department cannot be considered other than
eminently satisfactory, both as to finances and the
method of executing the work.
DILAPIDATED AND UNHEALTHY DWELLINGS.
With regard to unhealthy and dilapidated dwellings,
whenever it was found necessary, in the interests of
the public health to take steps to remedy evils complained
of, and reported by your officers, the necessary
Notices were served; in all the cases so dealt with
the Vestry orders have been complied with, and the
buildings have been either repaired, taken down, or
closed to human habitation.
