PITCHED CROSSINGS.
On the 14th February, 1877, I directed the
attention of the General Purposes Committee to the
great necessity of executing the above Works, as
follows:—
Paved Street
Crossings.
"Paved Street Crossings.
"I beg first to direct your attention to the question
"of Crossings in the line of the Public Footways. It
"is a matter of congratulation that the footways of the
"Parish generally, are now in a good condition. The
"laying down of the Tar Paving Footpaths has
"(although, in some localities, this work must be
"considered temporary) afforded good and useful
"paths. This will be readily admitted, especially
"when compared with the condition of the formerly
"gravelled paths.
"These Public Footways, both flagged and tar
paved, are now nearly continuous throughout the
