the third quarter. The deaths in July, August, and
September amounted to 94.
It is obvious, from the facts which have been
adduced, that, notwithstanding a slight increase in
deaths from Diarrhœa, and a very marked increase in
those from Small Pox, the health of the Parish and
of its several sub-districts, as revealed both by the
death-rates, and by the comparative prevalence of
zymotic diseases, has been exceptionally good during
the year to which this Report relates.
I have thought it desirable to add two Tables in
illustration of the varying prevalence of the several
zymotic diseases which have just been considered.
The one (Table III.) shows the parochial deaths due to
each disease, quarter by quarter, from the beginning
of 1871 to the end of 1876. The other (Table IV.)
gives similar information, year by year, for each of the
years from 1856, (the first year of the Vestry's
existence) to that which has just elapsed. It should
be observed in reference to the last of these Tables
that the deaths given are the deaths which were
actually registered; but that the population of the
Parish has, by gradual progress, considerably more
than doubled itself between the first and the last of
the years which are quoted, and that in contrasting
the mortality of one year with another, that fact must
