act as an inspector from the 5th of August last; and
Fisher and Comfort were appointed late last year,
and came into work only on the 4th January of the
present year. Consequently, Cooper did scarcely
more than four months' work, and Fisher and
Comfort not quite three months' work each.
The details of sanitary operations, which need not
be recapitulated here, are given fully in Table 111,
appended to this Report.
Few matters calling for special notice, occurred
during the year. It may, however be mentioned,
that a butcher, Mr. H. Ott, of 16, Peckham Park
Road, was fined, on the 12th February, £20,
with £5 5s. costs, for preparing for sale the
•carcases of diseased cattle. In consequence of
information received, Messrs. Mackay and Fisher
watched the premises early on the morning of the 29th
January, and discovered the carcases of three beasts,
which had been slaughtered shortly before, prepared
for sale, and packed in a cart, to be taken to market.
The meat was evidently the produce of diseased
animals, and was condemned by the Magistrate.
I remain,
Gentlemen,
Your obedient Servant,
J. S. BRISTOWE.
