IV.
NOTICE.
The Vestry of the Parish of St. Giles, Camberwell, hereby inform the
Parish that frcm this date it will be the duty of the Vestry to
enforce the Acts for
PREVENTING THE ADULTERATION OF ARTICLES
OF FOOD AND DRINK, AND DRUGS.
The Vestry, therefore, (give Notice, in the First place, to Manufacturers
of and Dealers in, such Articles:
1.—That every person who shall wilfully adulterate articles of
Food or Drink for Sale with any injurious ingredient, and every
person who shall wilfully adulterate Drugs for Sale with any ingredient
injurious or not injurious, shall forfeit a Penalty not exceeding
Fifty Pounds, and for a Second Offence be Imprisoned for Six
Months with Hard Labour.
2.—That every person who shall sell as unadulterated any article
of Food or of Drink, or any Drug, which he knows to be adulterated,
whether the adulterating ingredient be injurious to health, or added
simply to increase the weight or bulk of the article sold, shall forfeit a
Penalty not exceeding Twenty Pounds, and for a Second Offence
shall have his Name &c. published at his own expense.
3.—That it will be the duty of the Inspector of Nuisances to
procure samples of articles of Food or Drink, and Drugs, for the
purpose of having them analysed.
And they give Notice, in the Second place, to Purchasers,
That they are entitled to have articles of Food or Drink, and
Drugs, which they may have purchased in the Parish, analysed by
