During the 52 weeks ending Saturday, December
30th, 1871, 3914 births and 2349 deaths were
registered in the parish. The births were 175 more
than those registered during the previous year, the
deaths 13 less.
The births and deaths respectively were—in Dulwich,
91 and 37; in Camberwell, 1047 and 707; in
Peckham, 1526 and 895; and in St. George's, 1250
and 710. As compared with 1870, there was in
Dulwich an increase of 11 in the births, and a diminution
of 10 in the deaths; in Camberwell, an
increase of 41 in the births, and a diminution of 80
in the deaths; in Peckham, an increase of 103 in the
