This subject is of so important a character to the
future of the Metropolis that it cannot be too closely
attended to, and therefore your Committee has given
to the 79 cases so submitted to them during the
past year the most earnest consideration. In many
instances but for this attention, examples of most inconvenient
construction would have occurred, to the
great prejudice of public convenience and comfort.
Lighting.
The increase of new streets within this Parish

the applications for which from Owners and Occupiers

cost within this Parish:—

Phoenix Gas Company 88
Crystal Palace District Gas Company 77
Total Number 1,678
