Of these deaths 481 were amongst young children under five year
of age, 138 of whom were infants.
THE SEVEN PRINCIPAL ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
The deaths referred to the orders Miasmatic and Diarrhœal
(exclusive of Influenza), wore £26, an increase of seventeen over
last year. The Decennial average of Zymotic deaths for the ten
years 1882 to 1891 was 492 (see table V.) The death rate from
Zymotic diseases was 4.14 against 3.26 last year, the corresponding
rates for London being 2.28 in 1891 and 2.80 in 1892.

Of the total deaths from all causes no less than seventeen and a
half per cent. were referred to the group in the above table.
The diseases shewing considerable increase over last year were:—
Small Pox, Measles, Scarlet Fever, Diphtheria, and Whooping
Cough.
